Asta Lab Award

Electrium laboratories awarded with industry leading ASTA recognised test laboratory status

Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has approved leading UK electrical group Electrium’s Hindley Green and Wythenshawe laboratories as Recognised Test Laboratories (RTL) for ASTA certification.

On this basis, Electrium is now accredited to perform ASTA recognised testing for low voltage (LV) products and electrical wiring accessories in-house.

The partnership with Intertek offers Electrium a unique opportunity to obtain certification from a leading provider of Total Quality Assurance solutions. The ASTA Mark also demonstrates that Electrium’s product and manufacturing processes have been rigorously assessed by an independent, third party, accredited Certification body.

ASTA Certificates and reports are internationally recognised and will help to ensure continued market access for Electrium in the Middle East, a key market for the company. The Middle East region has seen a significant increase in product conformity requirements, with the introduction of the Gulf Mark for the Gulf region, KUCAS for Kuwait, SASO and ECAS Certification.

Under the Recognised Test Laboratory Scheme (RTL) programme, which includes quarterly inspections and annual auditing from Intertek, manufacturers can qualify to use test results from Recognised Test Laboratories as part of the compliance process.

Bruce McGill, Vice President of Global Certification for Electrical at Intertek: “At Intertek, we are committed to providing innovative, end-to-end Total Quality Assurance solutions to our customers as they develop new products and grow their businesses. Intertek's RTL scheme gives manufacturers control of their product testing and we are therefore delighted to have granted Electrium with ASTA Recognised Test Laboratories Status and look forward to supporting the business as it accelerates its product delivery and gains access to new markets”.

Jim Currie, Head of Operations at Electrium: “Ensuring the ongoing safety and quality of our products and enhancing our brand is crucial to being able to support our product ranges with the correct certification and accreditation across global markets. After investigating which certification could offer our customers increased confidence in our products’ safety, we pursued the ASTA Mark Recognised Test Laboratory (RTL) route to enable us to perform accredited testing in-house. We aspire to lead the way with product safety and help establish a better standard in the UK. Intertek’s ASTA Mark enables us to offer our customers enhanced quality assurance and confidence in our products’ safety.”
